There is a planet near the center of the galaxy, where there is no sun, and the only light source on which the creatures of the planet can depend on, are only the sum of the light of the surrounding galaxy core's dense starfield.
On the course of the wandering, sunless planet's continous decay of wildlife after it leaving the proximity of another star, only the most fit of it's inhabitants can hope for survival.
One of them are the Haaronai , a race most resembling the avian group of species , although some reptile and insect features can be found in their bodily structure too, like their very strong, chitin-like skin.
Their intelligence by far surpasses those of the other species living on the planet, but their use of techology is quite rare, considering they mostly use technologies to maintain their lives in their continously harsher becoming environment. Their natural abilities make them rarely use any weapons or armor, as their claws are unnaturally sharp and strong , and their hide is very resistant to direct energy , and physical damage too. They can also fly very fast and silently (quite average on foot though), and can perfectly see even in very dark environments.

When the explorers of the Doirnon found this place and their inhabitants, they immediately realized the poteential of having a highly intelligent yet very adaptive , persistent, and deadly servant species.
After the usual overkill-size invasion of the planet ( this one couldn't really be considered an actual battle, more like a pretty one-sided diplomatic agreement of alliance), they soon adapted the race as a means of rooting out the enemies from hazardous places where the standard starfighter or battle vehicles can't find the enemy or simply won't fit in, and as a tool of terror as the enemy could never know when these silent , perdatorish creatures would ambush them in a dark forest, any cave, or any place at the night.
(in other words, the usey them kind of like a hunting pet)
On the hierarchy of the Doirnon's dominion, they are about on the same rank as the Granlon, and the Doirnon actually rewards the services of the Haaronai , mostly with tools to make their survival on their planet easier, and other living places for them.(that's why they are usually considered as mercenaries, not simple minions, they need to keep them constanly loyal)
